As one of PPBH’s founding partners, John is the New York in PPBH’s original “New York Thinking, Salt Lake Prices” slogan. John’s career developed at some of advertising’s biggest agencies where he guided national brands such as Lever Bros., Campbell’s Soup, Johnson & Johnson and Avis Rent-A-Car. As Strategic Planning Director, John has built his reputation on his ability to maximize clients’ budgets to increase return on investment by simply being honest. As John always says, “Nothing sells like truth well told.” This thinking has produced amazing results for some of PPBH’s oldest clients, including Sun Valley Resort, as well as newer ones such as City Creek Center.
John attributes much of PPBH’s success to successful measurement. “We have always measured our clients' marketing success. It's easy. You just have to decide how/what to measure, collect the data, establish a baseline and then develop the commitment to actually follow through and collect the information. Marketing is all about results. But, unless you actually measure them, you’re just guessing. And as Mike Brian always says, guessing is expensive.”
It’s not unusual to find John enjoying some kind of high-velocity recreation outside the office, including skiing, boating, waterskiing or even driving around Salt Lake testing out fast cars.
